Marketing Planning - The first step to effective business development

BSA Marketing can help you develop and implement a realistic, practical marketing plan

Whether you are looking at developing your market using on-line or off line media, or as is probably the case, a combination of both, the first step should be to create a comprehensive marketing plan, outlining what you are hoping to achieve, and detailing what steps you are planning to take to get you there

We can help you work through the Marketing Planning Process to produce AND IMPLEMENT a realistic, practical and achievable Marketing Plan.

In fact, we make one of the key tools we use (SOSTAC) available on our website, so you can carry out the planning planning process yourself, but often clients find that the experience & "fresh eye" that is brought to the table by an outside consultant can make the process much more effective.

If you need a little help to get you going, please feel free to call us. WE are always ready to have a chat about your ideas.

There are three core elements to Marketing Planning:

  • Understanding the current environment your business exists in.
  • Understanding what you want to achieve.
  • Understanding how to get from where you are now to where you want to be.

By following a number of structured steps a plan can be created that will plot your path and enable you to take your company to where you want it to go.

Firstly begin by carrying out a situation analysis, looking at the strengths and weaknesses of your company and aligning them with the opportunities and threats provided by the external market.

Once you are clear on how you are placed in your market, clearly defined achievable objectives can be set.

You should now know both where your business is now AND where you want to take it to.

Next, we look at how your objectives can be achieved. We will need to consider the overall strategy and the detailed elements of the approach we plan to take.

The planned approach is developed into an action plan it is here that we decide who will do what, where, when, how and how much it will cost.

While the actions are being implemented, we need to control the process to check that targets and objectives that have been set are being achieved. If they are not, we must assess why not and take the appropriate action to get the plan back on track.

All of these elements are incorporated into the SOSTAC Model, making it a great tool for developing a workable & sustainable marketing plan.

A marketing plan is a living document that will evolve as circumstances change. It will give direction and structure that will ensure your plans become reality as well as giving a clearer understanding of your market.
